Church Planting Residency

In Partnership with Beacon Church and The Village Church

Overview

The Church Planting Residency at Beacon Church is a full-time, support-based, two-year pastoral development program designed to equip, assess, and send future church planters. Through hands-on ministry experience at Beacon and formal church planting training through The Village Church, residents are formed spiritually, sharpened theologically, and prepared strategically to plant healthy, gospel-centered churches.

This residency exists to raise up faithful shepherds who are rooted in the local church and ready to be sent for multiplication, ideally in Tarrant County.

How It Works

Year One: Training & Assessment

During the first year, residents serve on the staff team at Beacon Church while also participating in The Village Church’s church planting training process.

Residents will:

  • Gain understanding of pastoral ministry in a hands-on way, completing Beacon Church’s elder development process and attending open session of all elder meetings

  • Meet regularly with the pastor of Teaching and Vision for coaching

  • Participate in church planting training through TVC

  • Engage in cohort-based training focused on missiology, ecclesiology, and planting strategy

  • Begin developing a contextualized church planting vision, working with the Pastor of Teaching and Vision at Beacon Church to articulate your vision for your church plant

Year One focuses on formation, assessment, and foundational preparation.

Year Two: Leadership & Deployment Preparation

In the second year, residents continue serving at Beacon Church with increased leadership responsibility and focused preparation for launch.

Residents will:

  • Take on expanded pastoral leadership roles, becoming a provisional elder prior to being sent out as a church planter

  • Preach regularly

  • Develop a core team from within Beacon Church as well as through the church planter’s network and connections

  • Refine vision, strategy, and timeline

  • Prepare for fundraising and deployment

Year Two is designed to solidify calling, clarify vision, and prepare for sending.
